Wairarapa Camera Club
WELCOME
The Wairarapa Camera Club is a friendly and relaxed group of photographers who like to share ideas and skills related to all things photographic. We encourage the practice and study of photography through competitions, instruction, practical sessions, club outings and trips away throughout the year.
Presently, club membership is increasing at a healthy rate and the ‘digital age’ has been embraced by the majority of our members.
The club displays portfolios of members work in Masterton Library and Masterton Medical Centre.
HISTORY
The Wairarapa Camera Club first became an ‘Incorporated Club’ on the 22nd of January, 1965. Unfortunately the records of earlier activities have, as so often happens, been lost in the mists of time. The club originally formed in 1952, and we do know that in 1962, Miss N J Cameron won the ‘Mabson Trophy’ for the best ‘Colour Landscape’ photograph and that in 1964, B. Welch took hold of the ‘Kibblewhite Sports Action Trophy. 1973 saw the Club, sponsored by ‘Hansells,’ hosting the PSNZ Central Regional Convention.
